The Smash World Tour 2022 was a Melee and Ultimate tournament circuit hosted by Beardog Events. It was the second and last edition of the circuit, following the 2021 circuit. Announced on March 9, 2022, the circuit featured over 6,400 offline tournaments held around the world from March 12 to November 20, with the organization estimating over 325,000 in-person entrants in total, making it the largest esports tour in the history of any game. The circuit was meant to culminate with the Smash World Tour Championships in San Antonio, Texas, from December 9-11, 2022. However on November 29, 2022, the Melee and Ultimate Championships were both cancelled, with the organizers claiming they had been instructed to do so by Nintendo; the 2023 edition of the circuit was also cancelled. As such, Apex 2022, held on November 20, retroactively became the de facto conclusion of the circuit.
