Kevin Conroy was an American voice-actor who first played Batman/Bruce Wayne in Batman: The Animated Series. Conroy returned to the role on several occasions both in and out of the DC Animated Universe. After several auditions, the team behind Batman: The Animated Series heard Conroy's Batman and Bruce Wayne voices and realized that they had their Batman. On the third episode of Batman: The Animated Series "Nothing To Fear" (though it was tenth to air) Conroy delivered the line "I am Vengeance.
