Lakshmi eventually separated from his siblings and founded Mittal Steel, which in 2006 merged with Arcelor. Lakshmi's daughter Vanisha is chief strategy officer of steel producer Aperam, and his son Aditya is ArcelorMittal's chief financial officer.
